LEAF endeavours to provide LEAF Members, Friends, supporters and donors with a forum to both discuss and learn about current equality issues and meet like-minded women. 

If you live outside of Canada or you do not live in a community where there is a LEAF branch, you can join LEAF as a Friend.  LEAF National will monitor your community and let you know if there is interest in starting a branch.

As a Friend of LEAF you will receive our enews and a copy of our biannual newsletter LEAFLines.  We will also keep in touch about cases, upcoming events and activities that may be of interest to you.  As a Friend of LEAF you are not entitled to a vote, members of the organization must be linked to a LEAF branch.

Latest News PAY EQUITY LEAF is addressing the regressive changes to the pay equity regime for federal public sector workers.  The Public Sector Equitable Compensation Act (which was passed as part of the Budget Implementation Act omnibus legislation in March 2009), among other troubling things, takes away the right of public sector workers to chalenge discriminatory gender-based wage gaps under human rights law.  Pay equity for these workers is now a matter to be dealt with in the content of collective bargaining.  The legislation also diminishes the substance of the right to pay equity.  LEAF presented its substantive equality analysis of the legilsation to the Standing Committee on the Status of Women on June 4, 2009.  To read the submission got to: Pay Equity Submission
