"Re-member Equality" - Join LEAF HALIFAX !

The Halifax branch endeavours to provide LEAF Members, supporters and donors with a forum to both discuss and learn about current equality issues and meet like-minded women.  We also seek to provide our Members with opportunites to learn about, become involved in and contirbute to the work of LEAF, including through the "No Means No" Committee, our education and events committees, and our branch executive.

The rebirth of LEAF Halifax began in 2007 with the rejuvenated Persons Day Breakfast, held this year at Jane's on the Common.  At the event, spirited and ambitious women came together with a mission in mind, to recreate the Halifax branch of LEAF and promote women's equality locally, and in the Maritime region.  In April 2008 we initiated the Branch establishment through a Memorandum of Understanding with LEAF, which was completed in September 2008.

Now that LEAF is up and running, we are looking to expand membership and elect an Executive at our Annual General Meeting, the timing of which is yet to be determined.  Now is the time for you to get involved in shaping the organization and the agenda of LEAF Halifax.

Kim is the past National Chair of the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF). She is moving from Montreal to take up her new role as Dean of the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. This after work party will be the first opportunity to meet Kim in a casual setting--and before she takes up her post as Dean.  Kim is eager to meet everyone working for women's equality in Halifax!
