LEAF SUDBURY
"Re-member Equality" - Join LEAF SUDBURY !
The Sudbury branch endeavours to provide LEAF Members, supporters and donors with a forum to both discuss and learn about current equality issues and meet like-minded women. We also seek to provide our Members with opportunites to learn about, become involved in and contirbute to the work of LEAF, including through the "No Means No" Committee, our education and events committees, and our branch executive.
LEAF Sudbury is a branch of LEAF which organizes a Person's Day Breakfast in October every year, to celebrate the declaration, by the Privy Council of England, on October 18th, 1929, that indeed, Canadian women were "persons" in the full sense of the word.
LEAF Sudbury also joins with the Sudbury CFUW (Canadian Federation of University Women) and the Sudbury YWCA, in March every year, to celebrate International Women's Day. The event is called Celebrate Women and takes the form of an evening with a current best-selling Canadian author who discusses her book and answers the questions, followed by a wine and cheese reception and networking.
