LEAF TORONTO

"Re-member Equality" - Join LEAF TORONTO !

The Toronto branch endeavours to provide LEAF Members, supporters and donors with a forum to both discuss and learn about current equality issues and meet like-minded women.  We also seek to provide our Members with opportunites to learn about, become involved in and contirbute to the work of LEAF, including through the "No Means No" Committee, our education and events committees, and our branch executive.

Our branch is comprised of both lawyers and non-lawyers and women of all ages.  LEAF is a natural fit for lawyers but we strongly encourage non-lawyers to become involved with our branch.  We welcome the diversity of perspective that comes from having a Membership representative of our city and community.  A number of our Members have small children, as a result and whenever possible, children are welcome at our meetings.

Events
Toronto LEAF hosts "Chicago Comes to Toronto"
On March 26, 2009 LEAF Toronto hosted an unique event at the Rouge Contemporary Projects in downtown Toronto.  The event provided members and firends of LEAF with the opportunity to take in an exhibit of work by renowned feminist artist, Judy Chicago, and to hear remarks by Joanna Birenbaum, Director of Litigation.  Chicago's stunning and thought provoking art provided a perfect complement to Joanna's compelling remarks on the topic of litigation in which LEAF is currently involved.

By all accounts the evening was an excellent opportunity for stimulation of the mind and senses.  We hope to build on the success of this event by holding a similar event next Spring.
